Dr. Nazanin Narani

Periodontist

Dr. Nazanin Narani holds a postgraduate degree in Periodontics from University of British Columbia and two Masters of Science degrees from UBC and University of Toronto, Canada. She received her DDS degree in 1993 from Tehran University, Iran. She practiced general dentistry in Tehran and continued her practice in Toronto after moving to Canada in 1994. Her interest in Periodontics brought her to do research at the University of Toronto. She continued education by pursuing a three-year postgraduate degree in Periodontics at the University of British Columbia in 1997. She completed her postgraduate degree in Periodontics from the University of British Columbia in 2000.

Dr. Narani’s practice specializes in periodontal plastic and reconstructive surgery, periodontal medicine, and dental implants. A recipient of numerous academic awards during her dental training, she is also a member of multiple academic and professional organizations. Dr. Narani is a Certified Specialist and is also a Fellow of Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Narani keeps close coordination with referring general dentists and dental specialists. With vast experiences in treating complex dental cases, Dr. Narani often serves as a consultant to the other dentists and receives referrals from them. She is a Clinical Assistant professor at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of dentistry. Dr. Narani’s current professional memberships include:

Dr. Ahmed Ballo

Prosthodontics

Board Certified Specialist

Born in Parma, Italy, Dr. Ahmed Ballo has spent the last fifteen years studying, working, and travelling between continents.

Dr. Ballo is a Board-Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics and serves as a Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ballo earned his specialist training, master’s degree and Diploma in Prosthodontics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Dr. Ballo is the chairman of the Canadian Section of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), a globally recognized organization dedicated to advancing research, education, and best practices in dental implantology. ITI brings together top experts in the field to develop evidence-based guidelines and training for dentists worldwide. As chairperson, Dr. Ballo plays a key leadership role in shaping the direction of implant dentistry through research, education, and professional collaboration.

Dr. Ballo obtained his BDS degree in 2002 from Garyounis University. After several successful years in private practice, he moved to Finland to pursue further postgraduate education. He received the PhD degree as well as clinical training in implantology as an International Team for Implantology (ITI) scholar in 2008 from the University of Turku, Finland. Following this, from 2008-2012, he became a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Gothenburg and completed an Externship in implant dentistry at Brånemark Clinic in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In 2012, he moved to Vancouver and became a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. In recognition of his excellent contribution to UBC undergraduate dental students’ education, he has received three consecutive teaching awards for the academic year 2014, 2015, and 2016, an exceptionally remarkable achievement given his short time at UBC.

Dr. Ballo is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, and a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Dental Specialists Society of British Columbia, British Columbia Society of Prosthodontics, British Columbia Dental Association, and American College of Prosthodontist. Dr. Ballo is the director of the Vancouver Digital ITI Study Club, provides comprehensive training in digital and implant dentistry.

A widely published and internationally respected clinician and lecturer, Dr. Ballo’s main focus within clinical practice, teaching, and research is esthetic and implant dentistry, as well as the implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies in complex implant oral rehabilitation.

Dr. Ballo has published more than 50 scientific papers, book chapters and authored a textbook in the field of implant dentistry and related research, and his excellence has been recognized with multiple prestigious awards and honours, including Dr. Donald Brunette Award in Dentistry, Dr. S. Wah Leung Award, and European Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Award.

Dr. Meeta Bhatt

Endodontist

BDS., MSc (Craniofacial)., MSc DIP ENDO., FRCD (C)

Dr. Bhatt is a licensed and certified Endodontist in the USA and Canada. She is a Fellow of The Royal College of Dentists of Canada and completed the Endodontic Residency program at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Bhatt is in the advanced stages of completing her Boards to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Before pursuing an Endodontic Residency, she completed a Master’s in Craniofacial science and completed her research in radiology. Her research has been published in a renowned endodontic journal (International Endodontic Journal). Dr. Bhatt enjoys teaching and has experience as a Clinical instructor for five years at the University of British Columbia, mentoring dental undergraduates. She received the UBC Graduate Teaching Award twice during this tenure. She is a member of the Washington State Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, British Columbia Dental Association, and the Canadian Academy of Endodontics. Dr. Bhatt is fluent in both English and Hindi. She loves travelling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends during her free time.

Dr. Aneesha Taneja

Periodontist

BDS, MSc (Perio), FRCD(C)

Dr. Taneja is a board-certified, highly skilled periodontist with a passion for improving oral health and restoring smiles. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from CCS University in 2014 where she discovered her interest in periodontics.

She completed her Masters in Craniofacial science and periodontics from the University of British Columbia in 2023 where she was recognized with the Nobel Biocare Achievement Award, Program Director’s Award, Research Poster Presentation Award and the Graduate Student Initiative Award. While there she pursued her research interests by exploring the intriguing connection between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease.

Dr Taneja has a passion for periodontics and believes all healthcare professionals should continue to develop their knowledge through education, research, and literature. It is also important to Dr. Taneja that she contributes to her field, is currently employed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC, teaching budding periodontists.

Dr. Taneja’s commitment to patient care and comfort is evident in her gentle approach and emphasis on optimized treatment plans. She is trained to perform the full scope of periodontal procedures, including dental implants, gum disease treatment, and gum grafts.

In her spare time Dr. Taneja enjoys baking, travelling and spending time with her family.

Dr. Hamid R Hosseini

Orthodontist

DDS MSc Orthodontics

Dr. Hosseini obtained his Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Additionally, Dr. Hosseini takes pride in being recognized as a top 1% Diamond Plus Invisalign provider. With over 10 years of experience in the field, including his extensive studies in London, UK, he brings a wealth of expertise to his practice.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Hosseini is deeply committed to giving back to his community. He has volunteered his time and expertise to provide dental care for underserved populations in Vancouver. Additionally, he has worked closely with young medically compromised children, demonstrating his dedication to improving the lives of those in need.

Dr. Hosseini’s research during his residency at UBC focused on comparing skeletal, dental, and soft tissue changes in Class II patients treated with different orthodontic appliances, as well as presurgical infant orthopedics for patients with cleft lip and/or palate, showcasing his dedication to helping young patients achieve optimal oral health and function. He also conducted research on sleep apnea, contributing to the understanding and treatment of this condition. In his leisure time, Dr. Hosseini enjoys quality moments with his family and friends. An avid reader and chess player, he also stays active through sports like tennis, kickboxing, and soccer. Dr. Hosseini eagerly anticipates meeting you and assisting you in achieving your best smile!
